Seattle Parent Asks How Best to Act and Prep During Coronavirus Outbreak.

This is dictated due to tendonitis. However, especially given the timeliness of the situation, the SAT and ACT prep blog Must Go On!

Recently business as usual has been disrupted in Seattle and across the country as the novel Coronavirus spreads. Seattle SAT and ACT prep has gotten more than one question about whether tutoring should continue. We want to reiterate that the best course of action is to follow King County’s guidelines. Those at risk or who are sick should stay home, but the gen. public is fine in small gatherings. Although it may make sense for large group SAT and ACT prep administered tests and tutoring sessions to be canceled, the advantage of one-on-one tutoring is that test prep can continue without any threat to safety.

Seattle SAT and ACT prep has moved tutoring sessions at the King County Public Library in Seattle from the third floor to the 10th floor as a safety measure. The third floor tends to be more crowded. The population on the third floor unfortunately also is exposed to larger crowds at homeless shelters in the evening. However, we reiterate that this is no need for panic, that people should act calm, and that all people deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

Following general safety guidelines as put out by King County is the best way to act.

Remain calm. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Stay home when you are sick cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and services using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Follow the center for disease control recommendations for using a face mask. The center for disease control does not recommend that people who wear a face mask use it to protect themselves from respiratory diseases including the Coronavirus. Press enter face masks should you use by people who show symptoms of the coronavirus to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of face masks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings at homes or in a healthcare facility.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, or snoozing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash face hands with soap if water hands are visibly dirty. Always wash hands with soap and water it hands are visibly dirty.

We are always happy to discuss with a student after we have sat down and started the session for more information. Remember, act calm, wash your hands, and carry on, Seattle!

Are those students studying for the science section of the ACT, take a cue from Neil deGrasse Tyson who recently appeared on Stephen Colbert and stated that the Corona virus outbreak can be seen as an experiment in human behavior. He asked whether or not people well Act in accordance with the advice of scientists. He also stressed the importance of living a life without fear because a life lived in fear is not a life well-lived. We couldn’t agree more.

There is no need to wear a face mask unless you are sick. There is no need the panic according to the the center for disease control. Many schools are canceling class in the Seattle area. If you are at home, you can study for the SAT and ACT and know you are being prepped with confidence!

Seattle SAT and ACT prep has done Skype sessions before to supplement in person meetings and we are prepared to do so if necessary.

Remember, life goes on. To get to the Seattle Public Library, if you need to take a bus, Seattle SAT and ACT prep recommends bringing a Lysol wipe or similar disinfectant. Simply remain calm and wipe down the sea before you have sat down. While it is cold outside it is not a bad idea to wear gloves. The King County Seattle Public Library has added a supply of disinfectant wipes or similar action at the library.

Seattle SAT and ACT prep will continue business as normal, but please monitor the King County website and our website for any change in business. We will also send out email notifications as appropriate.

Regarding the upcoming Easter/spring break, we will remain in town for lessons. If you have to travel and get on a plane, bring an SAT or act study guide with you. It might not hurt to wipe down the seats around you with an alcohol-based wipe, but there is no need to panic. Life Goes On.
